Welcome to the Corrado Library

NEW BOOKS to Challenge you, that you SHOULDn't read.

Apparently no one understands that people are supposed to tell us NOT to have books in the library.  So many people have asked us to ADD things TO the Library collection.  How am I supposed to keep up with the Banning, Censoring, and Burning I need to do?  It's as if you all WANT books, movies, and resources in the library.  Don't  you know, as one 9th grader told me in Stacy's class, that the only reason we still have a library is "people cling to the idea that Technology isn't just taking over"?

Here are the newest batch of books (and I've been doing my darndest to put off buying or sharing them... thanks Student Summer Reading Survey! (now that I know that 89% of our students read at least some of their Summer Reading Book, I'll do my best to quash that!))

Books and materials that were direct results of your requests or recommendations  are listed below  (find a "Materials Request" form Here (students),  Here (faculty),  or just generally Here).  I won't 'out' anyone for the shameful act of requesting a book.

  • Cybersecurity and Cyberwar , P.W. singer.
  • Make Your Bed: little things that can change your life - William McRaven
  • Watched  (AudioBook), Marina Budhos
  • Romantic Violence: memoirs of an American Skinhead, C. Picciolini
  • Latin Music USA Chicano Rock (dvds)
  • Labyrinth Lost - Zoraida Cordova
  • *Brotherband: The Outcasts - John Flanagan
  • Cloud Atlas - David Mitchell
  • Empire of Storms  & Tower of Dawn -- Sarah Maas
  • *Psychology: essential thinkers - Andrea Bonior
  • NOVA Life's Rocky Start (dvd)
  • Field of Dreams (dvd)
  • Susana (dvd)
  • Being Mortal  - Atul Gawande
  • Bluebird, Bluebird - Attica Locke
  • The Best We Could Do (GN) - Thi Bui

A few other things that pertain to our Summer Reading, Current Headlines, or Good Ol' Fashioned censorship:  Eichmann in Jerusalem: a report on the banality of evil, by Hannah Arendt, and State of Deception: the power of Nazi propaganda,   as well as Media Literacy in the K-12 Classroom.

Other things that I find particularly exciting:  The Wall of Storms (sequel too The Grace of Kings) by Ken Liu.  And Then There Were None and The Body in the Library (because, hey! Library Murder!) by Agatha Christie,  5 New pairs of headphones.  The suitably depressing sounding (and thus sure to be popular(and currently getting critical acclaim)) They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera,  plus new books by Jodi Picoult, and Marie Lu.   Also a big new book on the Guilded Age, so when April's students come looking for books, we have something that was written after 1955 to show them.

(and yes, we should have two copies of John Green's Turtles All the Way Down on pre-order).

Happy book bur... I mean Reading!  See the list below, and then burn this email.
